Hypnotherapy & psychotherapy

Treatment for anxiety, anger, depression and stress has changed dramatically over the years with the focus being on future solutions rather than analysing past problems.  Using analytical techniques , a client may have typically seen a therapist for a number of years. However, Victoria has adopted the most recent research and practices Solution Focused Brief Therapy.  The treatment therefore is typically anything from one to fifteen sessions.  This allows the treatment to be an extremely positive process for the client.

Victoria also uses Neuro-Linguistic Programming, which she finds highly effective in the treatment of past traumas and phobias.  At Peace of Mind, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has also proved beneficial for clients with a range of issues. ‘These therapies allow clients to understand the vital role the mind plays in allowing us to reach our goals’ says Victoria.

Hypnotherapy involves using a trance state to reinforce positive change and personal goal achievement. Unlike stage hypnotists who use the illusion of the individual being ‘out of control’, we allow the client to take control themselves. The client is in control at all times and is aware of their surroundings. The trance state is a natural heightened state of highly focused attention, similar to the experience of day dreaming. We all experience it frequently. It has the added benefit of the process of relaxation that is so vital to us all. Generally hypnosis is regarded as an enjoyable and relaxing process.

Often ignored or overlooked is the vital part that the mind plays in the tailoring of our individual lives. We often strive to cure afflicting symptoms without even realising that we have the full capacity to cure ourselves.

Psychotherapy equips the individual with a wealth of knowledge and understanding which greatly aids the process.

Solution focused therapy aids us in looking to the future, rather than dwelling on our past. This enables us to focus on what we do want, rather than what we don’t want, and in the process, remove unwanted patterns of behaviour.

A combination of these therapies provide highly successful results when adopted. These therapies are becoming infinitely more recognised as effective treatments of psychosomatic symptoms.
